The 24th Dorking (Holmwood and Capel) Scout group had only been in existence since 1986 when the 9th Dorking (Capel) Scout Group was amalgamated with the 14th Dorking (Holmwood) Scout Group.
The 14th Dorking began life as the 1st Holmwood Scout Group in 1909 so we can claim a great deal of history.
We meet in the South Holmwood Scout Centre, a magnificent brick, purpose built Scout Hut. It opens out onto a playing field and nearby woods (owned by the National Trust) which is all a Scout group could wish for. In the past two years this building has undergone an extensive refurbishment.
We have a brilliant Beaver Colony, an overflowing Cub Pack and a very exciting Scout Troop which meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week. We all have appealing and active meetings and there are lots of opportunities for extra events within the Dorking district and beyond. You have to be on the ball to keep up with all we have to offer.
