The Dorking Beaver Scouts got savvy earning their Money Skills badge
Recently our Beavers Scouts from Dorking 1st, 5th, 22nd and 24th joined together for a district wide Money Skills event, all run by the Dorking District Beaver Scout leadership team. A great big thank you to every one of them!
On arrival the Beavers got started with coin rubbing and designing their own coins. They then sat and listened to the rules of a trading game.
In small mixed-group teams they had to earn money by answering questions and completing challenges correctly. They then had to decide what they needed to buy to take on camp.
One at a time, members of each team were able to visit ‘the shop’ to make a purchase. Every team bought a tent and enough sleeping bags for each member. There were torches, wash kits, cutlery and crockery, (one group also bought 12 bags of sweets!). The day was then completed with a money themed wide game!
There was great enthusiasm, lots of energy and some very tired Beaver Scouts at the end!
