Scout Network members take part in a variety of self-led activities, which they undertake and organise themselves with the support of a Scout Network Leader.
By participating as a Network Scouts it means some of the top awards can be offered to you from county to participate in such as the Chief Scouts Diamond Award, the Explorer Belt, Duke of Edinburgh or The King’s Scout Award more easily.
It also means some of the more ‘social events’ for this 6th Age Group in Scouts can be also offered to you, the events are for example:
There are also a few expeditions and county events that you can participate in, as well as the opportunity to keep it more local such as shooting or archery if you wish. (please check out Surrey Scouts for more info).
It also means if you wish you can take part in some of the more social SASUs that Surrey Scouts have on offer such as to name just a few:
We are excited to be working with our friends Leatherhead District Scouts to launch a joint Network unit called ‘Mole Valley Network’ at the end of this year.
As two districts we feel that we will be able to jointly run a thriving network unit for those aged between those based in and around Moley Valley!
*We have programme ideas but we hope that the Network Unit will be able to tell us what you want!
We’re aware that Network is the social/casual section of Scouting so we are proposing a £2 fee charge per a night (cash preferred)
This is the highest award (and can run in conjunction with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award) a young person can achieve in Scouting and really is something to be proud of and should be the aim of any serious Explorer Scout. Naturally, it’s not an easy award to achieve, but for those that have, the benefits during life are great. After all, what an achievement to be able to mention on a CV, at a job interview, or when you’re looking for that extra something that makes you different to the next person looking for promotion opportunities during your career.
